COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT FOOD COMBINING

When learning about food combining, all of us go through some learning experiences. No matter what health book we read, it seems that the program we follow makes sense but the results, when applied, could be better.

In my own experiences as a former championship weight lifter the goal was to "gain weight" in order to gain muscle. The various protein powders that I used had directions. I mixed the protein powders with milk or fruit juices. Too many times the "gain weight formulas contained hugh amounts of "raw sugar" and carob. There were the various milk shakes to have. About six raw eggs were added to help "gain weight." No matter what I seemed to be eating meals and drinking formulas that promised the world.

Well, as a result, I did gain about 50 pounds in a year. However I felt tired all the time. I always wondered how long this routine can be maintained. During this time I had one problem that kept on happening. I was constipated just about all the time. I felt so congested that I had to take laxatives just to have a bowel movement. I knew then I had to have "time out" from my daily routine.

Since I had this time out, I studied more books on nutrition and food combining. I kept experimenting with different systems and still no appreciable success. This is when I came across Dr. Royal Lee's book on Self Analysis (out of print) about 30 years ago.

In this book it mentioned taking the temperature and pulse to determine the balance with the respiration. This is the time I really started paying attention because I was now learning about something that can be TESTED in REAL life measurements.

I researched about 20 other medical books and discovered the meaning of the pH testing of the saliva and urine. Here still more time passed and by patient testing of my "vitals" I was able to evaluate the endocrine glands (thyroid, adrenals, gonads, pituitary) function when using different health approaches.

Now it was time to find out why I was tired all the time and constipated. I decided to go back to my old dietary plan when I was weight lifting. Only this time I was able to TEST each approach. I had to hold on the back burner things I had learned in the past.

This is what I have discovered:

When I combined any sugar or fruit with protein foods, the readings (temperature, pulse, pH of urine and saliva) indicated fermentation was taking place. When combined, the protein digestion was inhibited. The sugar or fruit intake is allowed to process, but since hydrochloric acid was present in the stomach activity from the protein foods, fermentation takes place. Later I discovered that chemists knew this all the time. It is a fact that acid, when combined with a sugar or fruit, a fermentation process occurs. Biochemists know that if you are growing a bacteria culture in a petri dish, fermentation can be accelerated by adding an acid.

Drinking the milkshakes made me discover another fact. I was actually demineralizing my body of the needed alkaline buffers, especially potassium, magnesium, and calcium. My vitals showed a pronounced acid buildup in my body. The milkshakes contained concentrated sugars that were out of proportion from the body cell chemistry. Later readings proved that coffee and alcohol produced the same results.

So now I have learned 2 important dietary lessons.

1. Do not combine proteins with a sugar or starch.

2. Do not use concentrated foods, especially if they are devoid of the alkaline buffers (cakes, pies, pizzas, candy, white or brown sugar, etc.).

Since fruits are beneficial to the detoxification process, I found out having the fruits the first thing in the morning will work the best. This is confirmed when the vitals readings are taken.

If protein containg foods are eaten after the fruit, it is important to wait at east 45 minutes.

The next lesson was learned when I had cereal and milk for breakfast. I discovered the lactic acid in milk promotes sleep or a tired feeling. Have you ever observed a baby after a milk feeding? Yes, they went to sleep! Then I asked myself- If the day is just beginning in the morning, why put yourself to sleep with milk? If used at all, it would be a bedtime drink. Since store bought milk is homogenized, the liver is heavily burdened in digesting the fat molecules. At least I had the benefit of raw milk at all times which is not homogenized, and the liver was not burdened with undigestible fat.

Another lesson learned is when I notice what the older children of today eat at the supper table. They may have a good meal, but accompany their meals with milk drinking.

Here is what happens. If they are eating any meat with the meal, the meat must digest in an acid medium (stomach hydrochloric acid). Milk has to digest in an alkaline medium. Since the two need opposite digestive mediums, they cancel each other out and the meal goes to waste. Remember, unless you are an infant that depends totally on milk, do not drink milk at all, especially when tiredness is a problem.

There are other things to discover by testing the temperature, pulse, saliva pH, and the urine pH, especially when there is a death threatening situation and you need answers FAST. You can also test the immune system function as well on how much to apply detoxification and what nutritional approaches work positively. Even when the temperature is lower than 98.6 degrees you may need to be doing something to prevent serious complications. There is a reason why the temperature goes to subnormal ranges. I personally believe that a temperature of 98.6 to 99.00 is a healing response window. If the temperature follows the right direction, it is confirmed.

I hope these guidelines will help your progress to better health. In closing, you at least may have the tools to work with when you choose a proper health program.
